Ready to elevate your culinary skills to new heights? If you’ve already conquered the basics in Cooking Up Capability Level 1 and are craving more kitchen excitement, then Cooking Up Capability – Level 2 is calling your name!

In this thrilling 8-week program, we’re turning up the heat as we dive into the world of stovetop cooking. From mastering stove safety to whipping up tantalizing new recipes, you’ll embark on a culinary journey filled with excitement and camaraderie alongside your fellow food enthusiasts.

But that’s not all – we’ll also continue to sharpen your knife skills and explore a delectable array of snacks, meals, and desserts that are sure to delight your taste buds. With seven weeks of immersive learning and one final week to showcase your newfound skills at our Skills Showcase, this program is designed to ignite your passion for cooking and celebrate your culinary achievements.

Join us for an unforgettable culinary experience where you’ll not only expand your cooking repertoire but also forge lasting friendships and memories. Don’t miss out on Cooking Up Capability – Level 2. It’s time to turn up the heat and unleash your inner chef!

Cooking Up Capability is a Fee For Service offering designed to empower individuals with the skills and confidence to become more independent in the kitchen. This inclusive and adaptive course provides a supportive environment where participants can develop essential culinary skills and gain a sense of accomplishment.

Barrie Course:

  • Date: Thursday mornings from April 25 – June 13, 2024
  • Time: 9:30am – 11:30am
  • Location: Grace United Church, 350 Grove St E, Barrie, ON
  • Target Audience: Adults with intellectual disabilities that have already completed level 1. 8 spots available 

Orillia Course:

  • Dates: Every Monday morning from May 6/24 – July 8/24 (*No classes on May 20th or July 1st)
  • Time: 9:30 am – 11:30 am
  • Location: St James Church, Orillia

Instructor Details:

  • Two Community Participation Support Workers with culinary experience.

Course Benefits:

Upon completion of the “Cooking Up Capability” class, participants will receive:

  • Build meaningful relationships with fellow learners.

Support and Learning Environment:

Our dedicated and trained staff will provide a supportive learning experience with a low student-to-staff ratio of 3:1 and small class sizes. This ensures that each participant receives personalized attention and guidance throughout the course.
