Welcome to an immersive journey of self-expression through movement, music, and dance! The ‘Ex-press Yourself’ course by Empower Simcoe is a unique blend of melody and motion, designed to unleash your creativity and get you moving in a fun, inclusive environment.

Course Overview

Chair Yoga Dancing Warm-ups: We kickstart the session with invigorating chair yoga dancing exercises, ensuring everyone gets into the groove and warms up those muscles.

Exploration of Music and Dance Styles: Next we explore various dance styles, accompanied by a range of props including drum sticks, balls, ribbons, Pom Poms, Hawaiian leis, scarves, and egg shakers. Through a curated video showcasing diverse dance styles, participants connect with different rhythms and movements, using props to express their unique style.

Creative Movement: Now you unleash your imagination! Participants craft their own moves, sharing ideas within the group and pairing them with music. This segment encourages free expression, allowing creativity to flow effortlessly.

Inspirational Dance Out & Cool Down: The session culminates in an uplifting, inspirational dance-out using drum sticks. This lively closure is followed by a soothing cool-down period, syncing with an inspirational dance-out song.

Mindful Meditation: Finally, wind down with 5 minutes of mindful meditation, a perfect way to conclude the class, leaving everyone feeling refreshed and centered.

Barrie Class:

  • Duration: Each session spans 2 hours, 1pm to 3pm, on Wednesdays from May 1/24 – June 19/24
  • Location: Peggy Hill Rec Center, 171 Mapleton Ave, Barrie
  • Attire: Comfortable clothing and your favorite dancing shoes!

Orillia Class:

  • Duration: Each session spans 2 hours, 1pm to 3pm, on Tuesdays from April 30/24 – June 18/24 (8 weeks)
  • Location: Odas Park, 4461 Fairgrounds Road, Orillia
  • Attire: Comfortable clothing and your favorite dancing shoes!
